Reverend Wesley Smith or Pastor Wes comes to Mountain View Baptist Church from Dublin, GA
Pastor Wes accepted Christ at the ripe old age of 8 at Grant Park Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA. By his late teens, Pastor Wes began volunteering for various positions in the church and has done so throughout much of his adult life.
After graduating from Murray State University in Murray, KY Pastor Wes joined the Army and served as a captain in various Armor and Cavalry units. He is a veteran of Desert Storm. After the army Pastor Wes worked for 20 years in higher education and during the last few years of his educational career he felt God call him into a full-time ministry. While working at Georgia College & State University the future pastor began working on a Masters of Divinity at Luther Rice University. Shortly after earning his M.Div he took an early retirement and moved with his wife of 41 years to Spokane, Washington.
Pastor Wes was married to the former Teresa Sanders of Tennille, GA. They were married for 41 years. Shortly after moving to Spokane Teresa was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The Lord took Teresa home after a long battle with the illness. While in Spokane Pastor Wes served as Teresa’s health care provider and worked as an interim pastor at several local churches. They are the parents of three adult children and five grandchildren.
Pastor Wes' favorite Bible verse is "This is the day which the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it" (NASB).
